in higher education, marketing and media relations, program development,

fund development, public relations, and strategic communication & outreach.

News & Higher Education Champion
Eva Pickens career began at Worrell Newspaper Company in Opelousas, LA as a daily assignment
reporter. She moved to Houston five years later and joined a dynamic team at Texas Southern
University (TSU), where she served as a Writer/Editor, a Director of Publications, an Associate
Vice President for Marketing and Communications, and as the Spokesperson and Vice
President for University Advancement. In this role, she was responsible for shaping TSU’s
image, branding, fund development, and communications. As a spokesperson for the
university, Eva skillfully conveyed its mission and achievements to the public. Her campaigns
highlighted TSU’s unique academic programs, research, and community impact.

She earned her bachelor’s degree in journalism from Southern University, graduating Summa
Cum Laude in just three years.

 

She studied Public Relations Management at Texas Southern
University and studied Communications at the Council for Advancement in Secondary
Education (CASE) at the University of Notre Dame. Eva’s passion for education and her drive
to make a difference fueled her rapid success.

Media Maven & Partnership Creation
Eva’s journey extended beyond academia. She transitioned to the largest Christian radio
station in America at KSBJ 89.3FM, where she piloted a Corporate Partnership Program.
Managing over 300 major businesses and corporations, 300 major donors and 600 mid-level
partners. Eva influenced millions of dollars during spring and fall support drives and during
year-end partnership campaigns. Her ability to connect with donors and communicate the
station’s mission was unparalleled.

Community Engagement and Nonprofit Leadership
Eva’s commitment to service extends beyond her professional roles. She is an avid volunteer
and serves on several non-profit boards, including the World Youth Foundation Board, where
she served for several years as an executive; the Pink Foundation Board to raise money for
cancer patients and others. Her dedication to community impact aligns with her belief in the
power of collaboration and philanthropy.

Public Relations Consultant
As a seasoned public relations consultant, Eva brings her expertise to organizations seeking
effective myriads of strategies. Her track record of success, combined with her passion for
storytelling, and ability to see things through different lenses, make her an invaluable asset to
